IMPORTANT INFORMATION

Please Read the Following Information Carefully

The TIAA-CREF Retirement Advisor is a brokerage service provided by TIAA-CREF Individual & Institutional Services®, LLC ("TC Services"), a registered broker/dealer, and member FINRA. It is intended for use by residents of the United States only.  TC Services and its parent, Teachers Insurance and Annuity Association of America ("TIAA"), along with their affiliates, are referred to as the "TIAA-CREF group of companies" in this document.

Using the TIAA-CREF Retirement Advisor:

You can access the TIAA-CREF Retirement Advisor through a number of channels:

Guest User Access.  If you use the TIAA-CREF Retirement Advisor as a Guest (a “Guest User”), you will be required to provide information about your retirement assets.  The TIAA-CREF Retirement Advisor will provide asset allocation advice based upon the information that you provide.  It will not provide specific recommendations regarding your retirement assets.  The TIAA-CREF group of companies assumes no responsibility or liability for decisions made by you with regard to your retirement assets.  Additionally, the TIAA-CREF Retirement Advisor will not independently verify information you provide about your retirement assets.

Log-in User Access.  If you log in to use the TIAA-CREF Retirement Advisor (a “Log-In User”), the TIAA-CREF Retirement Advisor can provide you with specific advice regarding your employer-sponsored retirement plan account administered by TIAA-CREF (the “Plan account”). To the extent identified by you, the TIAA-CREF Retirement Advisor will consider your assets held outside of the Plan account when generating advice. However, the TIAA-CREF Retirement Advisor will not offer specific advice for those external assets.  The TIAA-CREF group of companies assumes no responsibility or liability for decisions made by you with regard to external assets.  The TIAA-CREF Retirement Advisor will not independently verify information provided about external assets. If you are implementing advice obtained from a TIAA-CREF Retirement Advisor session that occurred more than 30 days ago, we recommend that you run another session prior to implementing reallocation changes to help ensure the advice remains timely.

Access through a TIAA-CREF Financial Consultant.  If you log in to use the TIAA-CREF Retirement Advisor to implement a TIAA-CREF Retirement Advisor plan you received from a TIAA-CREF Financial Consultant, the TIAA-CREF Retirement Advisor can provide you with specific advice regarding your Plan account. Additionally, if you have indicated that you desire to rollover assets into an Investment Solutions IRA, your TIAA-CREF Retirement Advisor plan also may include recommendations on how to allocate those assets among the core investment options available to you in the TIAA-CREF Investment Solutions IRA.  The core investment options available in the Investment Solutions IRA currently consist of TIAA-CREF investment products only.  You should review and verify the assumptions used in your plan prior to implementing. The last plan created will be available for a one time implementation within 30 days from the date of your session.  There may be tax consequences associated with a transfer of assets and differences in features and costs. Consult with your tax advisor regarding your particular situation. The advice provided by the TIAA-CREF Retirement Advisor consists of model portfolios composed of target allocations for various asset classes.   The advice also may include fund recommendations corresponding to those model portfolios where the TIAA-CREF Retirement Advisor is accessed through a TIAA-CREF Financial Consultant or online by a Log-In use on a self-serve basis.  Advice in this instance is limited to those investment options provided through TIAA-CREF with respect to your Plan Account and/or TIAA-CREF Investment Solutions IRA.

We have partnered with an independent financial expert, Ibbotson Associates, Inc., who has provided an investment methodology, which is the basis for the advice supplied by the TIAA-CREF Retirement Advisor. Subsidiaries of Teachers Insurance and Annuity Association of America (“TIAA”) are the registered investment advisors to the TIAA-CREF Mutual Funds, CREF accounts and the TIAA Real Estate Account and receive fees for providing investment advisory services to these securities. These fees are described in the applicable prospectuses.

The TIAA-CREF Retirement Advisor is appropriate for investors of all experience levels. Contextual help features are provided throughout the TIAA-CREF Retirement Advisor. Click on the Question Mark Icon  icons throughout the online module to access the specific contextual help features.  The Frequently Asked Questions tab and How We Calculate and Provide Advice tab also provide contextual help.  These features will help you further understand how the advice is formulated through the TIAA-CREF Retirement Advisor and the assumptions that it relies on. For example, the TIAA-CREF Retirement Advisor assumes your retirement age is age 67 unless you indicate otherwise by using the edit functionality of the tool. The TIAA-CREF Retirement Advisor assumes that contributions to your retirement plan accounts will be dedicated to retirement and you will not liquidate such assets for use prior to retirement (e.g., through early withdrawals).

The TIAA-CREF Retirement Advisor also will recommend a specific risk tolerance level for you based on your goals. This risk tolerance level, formulated by Ibbotson, is designed to adjust over time based on Ibbotson’s proprietary methodology which customizes a risk level trajectory based on the information you provide. Generally, it will assume that your risk tolerance level will become more conservative as you approach retirement] If you prefer, you can set your own risk tolerance level. In such case, Ibbotson will use a fixed risk tolerance model (i.e., one which will not adjust over time) to calculate the advice provided through the TIAA-CREF Retirement Advisor.  In other words, it will assume that your risk level will remain static until retirement. Therefore, if your risk tolerance level changes, you should consider running a new TIAA-CREF Retirement Advisor session.

Illiquid portions of the TIAA Traditional Annuity (“TIAA Traditional”) that you hold in your Eligible Retirement Plans at enrollment may affect the advice provided where the recommended model portfolio includes a smaller percentage of TIAA Traditional than you currently hold and reallocation to other investments is prevented due to the illiquid nature of your existing holdings.  This may cause the performance of your portfolio of Retirement Assets to differ from that of the recommended model portfolio.

If your Financial Consultant led TIAA-CREF Retirement Advisor plan includes an Investment Solutions IRA rollover simulation the TIAA-CREF Retirement Advisor recommendations assume you will complete the rollover as well. If you do not intend to transfer those assets to a TIAA-CREF Investment Solutions IRA, you should complete a new plan without the rollover simulation as the recommendations may change.

Your account information reflected in the TIAA-CREF Retirement Advisor will not be monitored on an ongoing basis, nor will the TIAA-CREF Retirement Advisor be updated to reflect any external changes or changes in your particular circumstances. There may be other investments not considered by the TIAA-CREF Retirement Advisor that have characteristics similar or superior to those being analyzed. If you are a Log-In User, the TIAA-CREF Retirement Advisor will not implement the advice without your authorization.  You must provide your authorization by clicking the “Reallocate Now” and “Yes, Submit Reallocation” buttons.  If you are a Guest User, the TIAA-CREF Retirement Advisor does not implement advice on your behalf and does not provide specific recommendations with respect to your retirement assets.  It provides asset allocation advice only.

You may be provided with the opportunity to enroll eligible plan assets in the TIAA-CREF Retirement Plan Portfolio Manager program. This is a separate service provided by the TIAA-CREF Trust Company, FSB.  It is a discretionary fee-based asset allocation program that provides ongoing management of eligible retirement assets.

TIAA-CREF Retirement Advisor Advice Methodology:

The advice provided through the TIAA-CREF Retirement Advisor is based on statistical projections of the likelihood that you will achieve your retirement goal. The projections rely on financial and economic assumptions of historical rates of return of various asset classes that may not reoccur in the future, volatility measures and other factors, as well as information you have provided.

IMPORTANT: Projections or other information generated by the Ibbotson Associates, Inc. software program used by the TIAA-CREF Retirement Advisor regarding the likelihood of various investment outcomes are hypothetical, do not reflect actual investment results and are not a guarantee of future results. The projections are dependent in part on subjective assumptions, including the rate of inflation and the rate of return for different asset classes. These rates are difficult to accurately predict. Changes in the law, financial markets, or your personal circumstances can cause substantial deviations from the estimates. This could result in declines in the account’s value over short or even extended periods of time.  While the advice given through the TIAA-CREF Retirement Advisor is based on strategies consistent with prudent long-term investing and diversification principles, any investment is subject to risk. These risks are described in the securities’ respective prospectuses. The prospectuses, which provide additional information on investment objectives, charges and expenses, should be read carefully prior to investing. Visit www.tiaa-cref.org or call 877 518-9161 for a prospectus.
